Cutler And Gross Prescription Sunglasses

Cutler and Gross sunglasses were founded in 1969, when the finest craftsmanship was combined with indisputably cool style. The British luxury eyewear brand was created by two opticians, Graham Cutler and Tony Gross, who then brought on a frame maker, George Smith, to hand make all of their frames. The first Cutler and Gross store opened in Knightsbridge, London in 1971, shortly followed by the first ever ophthalmic advertisement which at the time was illegal. In 1983, Cutler and Gross launched their first ready to wear collection of glasses, handmade in Cadore, Italy. The brand soon became renowned for their bold character which made each frame unique to its wearer. Not only that, but Cutler and Gross eyewear has been associated with royalty. Princess Anne visited the Cutler and Gross stand in Paris in 1984, and soon after Princess Diana was seen sporting a pair of Cutler and Gross sunglasses to the British Grand Prix. Considered bastions of iconic eyewear, Cutler and Gross designs continue to grace the face of the most recognisable faces in the worlds of art, design, music and film. 1999 saw Cutler and Gross sunglasses featured on no other than Julia Roberts in Notting Hill, and later Cutler and Gross produced frames for Kingsmen: The Secret Service, to be worn by Colin Firth. The brand’s signature creativity has been applied to every frame in the Cutler and Gross sunglasses collection, with their trademark numbered designs and absence of an ostentatious logo making them instantly recognisable. So much so, that Cutler and Gross frames were featured in the Victoria and Albert Fashion exhibition in 2012, FashionThings: Surrealism and Design, and also in the Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!
